Listen to Fred Boehler, our President & CEO, describe the Americold mission and why it’s important to offer the best supply chain and cold storage solutions available.
Mr. Boehler was promoted to President & Chief Executive Officer in December 2015 after serving as Americold’s President & Chief Operating Officer since March of 2014. Mr. Boehler originally joined Americold in February 2013 as our Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer.
Prior to joining our company, Mr. Boehler served as an SVP with SUPERVALU, Inc., a leading grocery retailer and wholesaler supplying more than 4,300 stores. Before the move to SUPERVALU, Inc., Mr. Boehler spent 10 years in senior leadership roles, culminating as the Senior Vice President, Logistics & Purchasing at Borders Group, Inc., where he oversaw Distribution Operations, Industrial Engineering, Logistics Planning, and Purchasing. Mr. Boehler also spent a decade in senior logistics management roles with Newell Rubbermaid.
Mr. Boehler holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management Science & Operations from Wright State University, and a Master’s in International Business from Northern Illinois University.
Khara Julien joined Americold in September of 2019 as Executive Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer. Mrs. Julien is responsible for leading all talent initiatives to support the overall business direction, and will be responsible for formulating appropriate organization strategies for the future development, attraction, onboarding and retention of high-caliber talent.
Mrs. Julien brings nearly 20 years of HR leadership experience in the manufacturing and distribution industries to Americold. In her previous role as VP and CHRO for Gypsum Management & Supply (GMS), Mrs. Julien was responsible for leading the development and implementation of the nationwide HR strategy. During her tenure with GMS, she successfully led the company through more than 30 acquisitions, while taking the company from private to publically-traded on the NYSE in 2016. Prior to GMS, she also held HR leadership roles at Novelis and Owens Corning.
Mrs. Julien holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan and also has her Global Professional Human Resource (GPHR) certification from the Human Resource Certification Institute.
Marc J. Smernoff has served as our Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President since August 2015. Prior to that, he served as our Chief Administrative Officer and Executive Vice President from August 2014 until August 2015.
From August 2004 through April 2015, he served as a Director at The Yucaipa Companies, LLC. Prior to joining Yucaipa, from 2003 to 2004 he was a Manager in the Transaction Services group at KPMG, and from 2000 through 2002, he was an investment banking associate at Wells Fargo Securities.
Mr. Smernoff was a member of our board of trustees from March 2008 until December 2009 and served on the board of directors of Eimskipafélag Islands hf (NASDAQ OMX: EIM) from September 2009 until September 2018.
Mr. Smernoff is a certified public accountant. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and his Master’s in Business Administration from UCLA.
Jay Harron is Americold’s Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer. He is responsible for the identification, assessment, negotiation, closing, and integration of all acquisitions, mergers and strategic partnerships.
Mr. Harron brings with him over 20 years of experience in real estate, private equity and investment banking. In his former role as President of Metro Storage International (MSI), he led all elements of international investment and the creation of a new self-storage platform in Brazil. In addition, as Managing Director of Capital Markets for Metro Storage, he assisted with capital raising and the formation of programmatic joint venture partnerships with institutional investors.
Prior to Metro Storage, Mr. Harron was Senior Vice President, Investments for Equity International (EI), the Sam Zell-founded private equity firm that focuses on direct investments in real estate-related operating companies globally.
Mr. Harron received his Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a Master’s in Business Administration from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Jim Snyder joined Americold in March 2018 and is serving as Americold’s Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer. He is also the company’s Secretary and is responsible for the Company’s legal, risk management, internal audit and compliance functions.
Prior to joining Americold, Mr. Snyder was General Counsel for Pet Retail Brands, Inc., an international pet retail company. Prior to that he was the General Counsel for Family Dollar Stores, Inc., a Fortune 300 retailer with $10 billion in sales. Prior to Family Dollar, he was an Assistant General Counsel at the Home Depot Inc., where he oversaw the company’s litigation and risk management functions. And before the Home Depot, Mr. Snyder was a Partner at King & Spalding, LLP.
Mr. Snyder earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics at Wake Forest University, and received his J.D. degree from George Washington University.
Carlos Rodriguez joined Americold as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in September 2018. He is responsible for leading Americold’s global operations and critical support functions to better position the organization for future growth and efficiencies.
Mr. Rodriguez has nearly 30 years of experience in numerous Supply Chain leadership roles in his career. Prior to our company, he was Senior Vice President, Distribution and Global Transportation Services for Big Lots Stores supporting retail and ecommerce. Before Big Lots Stores, he served in several executive leadership roles, including Supply Chain Operations, Inventory Management, Omni-channel Logistics and Supply Chain Strategy.
Mr. Rodriguez earned his Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management from DeVry University of Chicago and his Master’s from Loyola University of Chicago. He serves on the leader’s council for the Retail Industry Leadership Association (RILA) and is a regional board member of Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Sanjay Lall is Americold’s Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer. He is responsible for global information technology and leads Americold’s IT team to provide customers the highest level of systems security and leading-edge supply chain technologies to support their business.
Mr. Lall brings nearly 20 years of executive-level technology leadership experience to Americold, having previously served in senior roles as CIO at Interface, Inc., Tyco/SimplexGrinnell, STERIS Corporation and Suntory Water Group. He also previously held leadership roles at Chutney Technology (a startup), The Coca-Cola Company, GTE, GE and GM/EDS.
Mr. Lall graduated from the University of Miami, Florida, with a Master of Science in Computer Science, and he holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) in Accounting and Finance from the University of Delhi, India.
Robert Chambers joined the Americold Executive Leadership Team in January 2020 as Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer. Mr. Chambers is responsible for global business development and account revenue growth for an array of products and supply chain solutions.
Mr. Chambers brings nearly 20 years of commercial finance and accounting experience to Americold. Most recently, he held the title of Chief Financial Officer for Saia, a publicly traded transportation logistics company. Previously, Mr. Chambers was the Vice President of Commercial Finance at Americold where he was instrumental in developing the Company’s commercial business rules and underwriting process.
Mr. Chambers is a certified public accountant with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Accounting from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida.
Mr. Stuver leads Americold’s Engineering and Continuous Improvement Functions. Before joining our company, Mr. Stuver was VP, Distribution Support and Engineering for SUPERVALU. He’s also worked as a Process Improvement Engineer with PepsiCo, and in increasing roles of responsibility with Borders Group Inc. Mr. Stuver also served as a US Army Combat Engineer Officer in Germany and Iraq.
Mr. Stuver holds a Bachelor’s in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master’s in Management from the University of Southern California,
Mr. Stuver currently serves on the Board of Directors for the World Food Logistics Organization, and is a Board Member of the Georgia Institute of Technology’s SCL Industry Advisory Board, and the University of Georgia’s full time MBA Supply Chain and Operations Advisory Board.
