Dallas lies along the Trinity River in north-central Texas. Its winters are mild and its summers are hot with moderate to high humidity.
Locals call the Dallas-Fort Worth area (representing up to 30 miles to the west), the Metroplex. This cosmopolitan city has plenty of shopping centers, restaurants, higher education institutions, and museums. The Sixth Floor Museum downtown, commemorates the site of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963.
Dallas’ art district is the site of the Dallas Museum of Art, the Dallas Theater Center, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, and the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center.
Fair Park is home to the Cotton Bowl, a music hall, a planetarium, an aquarium, and the fairgrounds. And don’t forget the Dallas Zoo, known for its reptile collection.
