10 Ways Americold and Feed the Children Have Made an Impact Together
Every day at Americold, we help move, store, and protect food throughout the supply chain so it can reach the people who rely on it. For the past 10 years, our partnership with Feed the Children has extended that work in meaningful ways, supporting its global movement to end child hunger by helping connect children and families with food, essentials and opportunities so they have what they need to thrive. For more than a decade, we’ve partnered with Feed the Children to strengthen communities and support families experiencing hunger and hardship.
Together, we’ve combined our temperature-controlled logistics solutions, transportation capabilities, financial support and associate volunteerism with Feed the Children’s programs and community partnerships to help expand access to critical resources for families across the U.S.
As we celebrate this milestone, we’re looking back at 10 ways our partnership has made an impact over the past decade.
1. Turned Supply Chain Expertise into Community Impact
When manufacturers and other organizations donate food and essential items to support Feed the Children, we use our temperature-controlled logistics solutions, transportation capabilities, and cold storage infrastructure to help move food and essential resources where they are needed most.
2.Distributed Essential Resources Through Resource Rallies
Feed the Children’s Resource Rallies have become a cornerstone of our partnership, bringing together Americold associate volunteers and local partners to help distribute food and essentials directly to children and families in communities where support is needed most. At Resource Rallies hosted in Atlanta, Allentown, and Kansas City, associate volunteers distributed 25-pound boxes of shelf-stable food and 15-pound boxes of essential household and personal care items to local families.
3. Helped Students Thrive in the Classroom
Our annual contribution helps strengthen Feed the Children’s Food & Essentials Hub and Backpack-N-Go programs, which provide students with access to food and essential resources throughout the school year so they can stay focused on their academic success, health, well-being and readiness to learn.
4. Expanded Access to Food & Essentials Year-Round
Food insecurity often rises when the school year ends and children no longer have access to free or reduced-price meals. Through our support, Feed the Children’s Summer Feed & Read program helps address seasonal gaps in food access by providing nutritious food and learning opportunities while school is out.
5. Empowered Associates to Give Back
Our associates across the U.S. have dedicated their time and energy to volunteering at events that support Feed the Children’s programs and initiatives. These opportunities bring Americold’s core value of Giving Back to life while allowing associates to see firsthand how the partnership supports children, families and communities.
“Helping move food is what we do every day,” said Rob Chambers, CEO, Americold. “Helping families access food when they need it most is one of the reasons our partnership with Feed the Children has been so meaningful.”
6. Supported Disaster Relief Efforts Across the Country
When natural disasters affect communities, families are often left without access to food and other essential resources. Alongside Feed the Children, we have leveraged our transportation network and logistics expertise to help deliver critical supplies and support relief efforts following hurricanes, wildfires and other natural disasters.
7. Addressed Critical Needs Beyond Food
Food is only one of the resources families need to thrive. Through the Feed the Children programs we support, children and families receive additional essential resources such as personal care items, household essentials, school supplies and books – resources that help meet everyday needs so children can grow and thrive.
8. Strengthened Communities Close to Home
Our partnership has created meaningful impact close to home in Fulton County, Georgia, where Americold’s global headquarters is located. Through support for local schools, Feed the Children’s Food & Essentials Hub and Summer Feed & Read programs, and Americold’s contributions and volunteerism, we have helped connect local families with critical resources.
9. Raised Awareness of the Fight Against Childhood Hunger
Through volunteer events, fundraising efforts and community programs, our associates and partners have helped raise awareness about food insecurity and create opportunities for people to take meaningful action.
10. Created a Decade of Measurable Impact
Over the past 10 years, Americold has contributed more than $2.4 million to Feed the Children. Together, we have helped provide more than 2.1 million pounds of food and essential resources, reach more than 2.7 million individuals and 700,000 families, and support the delivery of more than 1.9 million meals.
These milestones represent a decade of collaboration between Americold and Feed the Children to help increase access to food and essential resources. The impact achieved over the past 10 years reflects the contributions of associates, partners and community organizations that have brought the partnership to life.
