Piscataway is the one of the oldest municipalities in New Jersey, founded in 1666, and officially incorporated in 1798. It was an important early settlement of the Atlantic coast that ultimately led to the formation of the United States of America. Piscataway is 35 miles from New York City, and is within 250 miles of one-quarter of the nation’s total population.
The township’s prime location with its easy access to the New Jersey Turnpike, the Garden State Parkway, I-78, I-287 and Routes 18, 22 and 27 make it especially attractive to importers, exporters, and distributors of all types of goods. Along with the great economic growth, Piscataway has managed to maintain its friendly welcoming atmosphere, making it a wonderful place to live, work and play.
Piscataway is proud to be called home for some prestigious campuses including portions of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Busch and Livingston campuses of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey as well as SHI Stadium.
Fun fact: on July 4, 1778, Piscataway was home to the first national Fourth of July celebration.
